Performance
A more exciting driving experience is provided to you by the standard 8-speed automatic transmission in the Atlas, as the standard 10-speed drivetrain in the Pilot does not offer you the same level of tactile satisfaction. Its competitor, the Pilot, has a standard 3.5L V6 engine that won’t give you the same sense of responsive acceleration with its 285 horsepower1 and 262 lb.-ft. of torque2. Lastly, driving the Atlas gives you more efficiency due to its EPA-estimated 20/27/23 MPG city/hwy/combined3 fuel economy when compared to the 19/27/22 MPG city/hwy/combined4 ratings maintained by its competitor.
Exterior
When you commute past John West Park in the 2026 Volkswagen Atlas, the standard Adaptive Front Lighting System will give you a safer commute due to its dynamic cornering lights. On the other hand, the Pilot only has standard LED headlamps that point straight ahead. If you like having the front glass clear of moisture, then the standard rain-sensing windshield wipers in the Atlas will delight you. While its counterpart has this feature, it is only available on the Elite trim and above. The standard heated, foldable, power-adjustable side mirrors in the Atlas share a similar story, as the Pilot only has them available on the EX-L version or greater.
Comfort and Convenience
Your passengers will delight in being able to keep smartphones and tablets fully charged in the Volkswagen Atlas, as it has six standard USB-C ports to aid you in that endeavor. The Honda Pilot also has these outlets5 as a standard feature, but only four of them are included. Either way, you can stay comfortable in the Atlas due the standard Climatronic® three-zone automatic climate control system. An equivalent standard tri-zone automatic heating and air conditioning system exists in the Pilot as well. Those who like sitting on a plush and easy-to-clean seating surface should go with the Atlas due to its standard perforated V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces. If you want a similar feature in the Pilot, then you'll have to get a higher trim level because it only comes standard with fabric upholstery. “ I absolutely love this dealership. They are super clean, state of the art materials, and usually very quick for things like oil changes! I got there today at 7:00 AM and I left around 9:30. My only issue with this place today was that the mechanic did not communicate to my service writer that my update was taking longer than expected due to a system malfunction. However, Stephen did exactly what he said he would do, he was very polite, very professional, and very understanding of my plight. He accommodated me and gave me a few dollars off for my inconvenience so I am very happy. I drive from Baltimore Maryland to go to this dealership because I have never been to a more professional Volkswagen dealer.
