2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport in Salisbury, MD

The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is a two-row crossover, and we probably don’t need to mention that it’s not the only one out there; there are many such vehicles currently in existence. Luckily, the 2021 Atlas Cross Sport makes a name for itself in a crowded class as a nicely packaged, practical mid-size SUV.

As the name suggests, the Atlas Cross Sport is based on the larger three-row Volkswagen Atlas. The difference lies in the more rascally design held by the Atlas Cross Sport, as well as the fact that it yeets that third row of seats in favor of a shorter rear-end. Other than that, it’s nearly identical to its big brother.

For starters, the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport contains the same powertrain options as the 2021 Atlas: a 235-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter standard provision, and a 276-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 as the optional choice. Both come paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, but buyers do have the choice of either front- or all-wheel drive.

New Two-Row Crossover SUV on Maryland’s Eastern Shore

The rakish design of the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport includes a lower roofline and shorter rear end than that of the full-size Volkswagen Atlas. These touches lend a hefty dose of style to the machine. It still retains its practicality, however: inside, both passengers and cargo will find plenty of room to abide.

The interior of the 2021 Atlas Cross Sport is also quite analogous to that found within the three-row Atlas. There are some differences, however, such as an updated steering wheel and stitched door panels. Users will enjoy comfortable seating throughout, even for fully grown human specimen. Only a bench option is offered for the second row, however, so those for whom Captain’s Chairs are a must-have will have to go for the full-size variation.

In terms of technology, users will come across a standard touchscreen display that includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Optional features include navigation, a reconfigurable gauge display and SiriusXM satellite radio. Remote start is on hand, along with an array of other features and analytics info, via the VW Car-Net connectivity app. Those who pay the subscription fee can take advantage of a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
