The Volkswagen Taos is a new model poised to hit the streets, and it’s decidedly shagadelic. The Atlas Cross Sport, meanwhile, is just reaching about one year of age; it made its North American debut in early 2020, and has been making an impressive name for itself ever since.
Both the 2022 Volkswagen Taos and 2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport are classed as two-row crossover SUVs under the Volkswagen moniker. Both slot underneath a larger vehicle in the lineup. These similarities can make it hard to determine what’s exactly different between the Taos and the Atlas Cross Sport.
To help elucidate the differences, turn your attention to the table below!

The biggest difference between the 2022 Volkswagen Taos and the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is simply the physical size of the vehicle, and all the variations that entails. The Taos is smaller, which means its cheaper, more maneuverable, and more economical, both in starting price and fuel economy.
The 2021 Atlas Cross Sport boasts more size, which saddles it with a higher price point and inferior fuel economy, but a good deal more horsepower and cargo volume. It can also tow up to 5,000 pounds, while the Taos doesn’t seem to have towing ability.
